Wendelien Daan
Wendelien Daan (She, Eindhoven 1965)
Based in Amsterdam
Education ARTEZ 1983-1988
FASHION & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER
Wendelien Daan got into photography whilst studying Fashion at ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, Arnhem Netherlands. After graduation she developed her own photography style which got her assignments from International Magazines like Vogue Paris and Clients like Nike and Mauboussin.
Daan creates a unique and vaguely disturbing atmosphere in all her images, by the use of light and situations which makes you wonder what you are looking at. In her photographs she observes her subject in an abstract and surreal way. She empowers her subjects’ beauty in a way that it embraces imperfections. Her work is known for its iconic value, finding its delicate balance between personal projects and assignments. Her strong and sculptured style and subtle use of light bring a distinctive edge in everything she creates.
