Eric Kampherbeek
Hi, my name is Eric Kampherbeek and I call myself a visual storyteller. While photography is my main medium I also use painting and drawing techniques to tell stories that I believe are worth telling. My subjects have changed considerably over the years. For example, I have made long stories about homeless people in The Hague, I visited Libya during the Arab Spring and I made stories about the independence of South Sudan.
In recent years I have mainly been working on stories about Indonesia and our colonial past. Partly due to my Indo-Dutch background, this history has also directly influenced who I am. I try to make stories from within. In this way I want to take the viewer into the world I am currently in.
I publish my work in art books and I exhibit in various places in the country. Ultimately, I hope to be able to contribute to the understanding of worlds that are not necessarily your own.
